Chris Forte on understanding the failures of life, and how we learn to grow.
___
The last 8 years have been rough. Real rough! I have a failed marriage and three failed businesses. How does one pick himself off the floor and regroup? It’s the understanding that failures are merely lessons from one to learn from so they can grow. Also as important is to recognize that I take full responsibility for my life. It could be easy (weak) to point fingers and blame my former wife for the failed marriage. I could blame the failed businesses on market conditions, banks unwillingness to work with me, or lack of funds. But in truth I created this mess for my highest good. Why? I have been searching for myself. My true self. Make sense? Kind of crazy.
The truth is we all have the power within to have the life we want. I forgot that a while ago. I was sleepwalking through my life. Not pursuing to find the true self. A life of purpose. This is what has been missing for a long time. I’ve had to dive into my past and look at the good, bad and ugly to connect the dots. I had to dig in and realize there have been many failures in my life which I’ve learned from and bounced back from which in turn made me spiritually stronger and a better person.
It’s having the faith and taking action to live the life of purpose. It’s saying good-bye for good to my old self so my true self can come to light. Understanding that the past is past and is irrelevant. It’s the present what matters and making the conscious effort to stay in present. Staying awake. Also saying good-bye to the old self is letting go of things that don’t serve me and continue to make overall improvements in the quest of getting to the true self. Watching everything I put into my body, this is sacred and houses my spirit and my heart. Ah yes that’s where the purpose lies, in our hearts. I need to also take care of this beautiful heart through prayer, meditation, yoga, reading and writing. Which in turn uses more of my brain and gives clarity to the mission at hand.
Writing has helped me with this process. I started this process in October 2015 as way to heal and committed to 52 blogs. It’s working! Writing can help one discover oneself. Do you have any failures in your life? Did you bounce back? Write about it as it can serve you as you live out your purpose. What is your purpose? Do you know? It lies in your heart. It’s in the heart where God speaks. The one thing that remains constant in my life is my relationship with God which keeps me moving along on the ultimate search of living a life of purpose. Faith & Action will get me there. We cannot let failures stop us on this pursuit, they are only temporary setbacks that can make one stronger.
Live Brave,
Chris
